Audi #7 on pole at Silverstone

Audi won the first qualifying rounds of the 2016 season WEC by monopolizing the first row of the grid for the 6 Hours of Silverstone. The No. 18 R7 of André Lotterer and Marcel Fässler took pole on a wet track with an average time of 1'53"204, ahead of Lucas di Grassi's sister car by a tenth and Loïc duval.

The Porsche 919 Hybrid are on the second row with the number 1 of the reigning champions Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber who ranked nine tenths behind the benchmark, ahead of No. 2 Dumas-Jani-Lieb by a tenth. The Oreca 05 of G-Drive Racing from Rusinov-Rast-Berthon was the fastest of the LMP2s with an average time of 2'08"479. The #26 was more than a second ahead of the competition, the closest crew being that of the #2 ESM Ligier JS P31 made up of Dalziel-Derani-Cumming which was more than a second behind. delay.

AF Corse set the best times in GTE Pro qualifying at Silverstone. On a wet track, Sam Bird and Davide Rigon set the benchmark time at the wheel of the Ferrari 488 GTE n°71 with an average time of 2’12”440. The sister car #51 failed to qualify. Gianmaria Bruni was unable to take the wheel following a mechanical problem.

The Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR driven by Michael Christensen and Richard Lietz is the closest with 1” behind. The No. 5 precedes the Ford GTs of Chip Ganassi Racing and the Aston Martin Vantage.

GTE Am

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing took the GTE Am pole with an average time of 2'15"102 obtained by the Porsche of Al Qubaisi-Heinemeier Hansson-Bachler.

The 6 Hours of Silverstone will be contested tomorrow from 13 p.m. French time and can be followed in full on Motors TV. Eurosport and L’Équipe 21 will also follow the race.
