EOT revised for more competitive races in LMP1

Technology Equivalence has been corrected for the 2019-2020 season of WEC before the Prologue which will take place at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on July 23 and 24.

Après une année de domination des Toyota TS050 Hybrid, les organisateurs ont pu obtenir l’accord des concurrents des LMP1 pour modifier l’équivalence afin de resserrer les performances et ainsi offrir une chance au Rebellion Racing and Team LNT to fight against the hybrid LMP1s.

The Toyotas will begin the season on September 1 at Silverstone (Great Britain) with an additional 14kg compared to the last 6 Hours of Spa (Belgium). The TS050 Hybrid will be weighed by 40kg compared to their minimum regulatory weight, which explains the ballast taken for the Prologue.

Tank capacities will be established so that the number of laps per stint are identical between hybrid and privateer LMP1s, including at 24 Hours of Le Mans June 13 and 14.

The private LMP1s will also take one second less than the Toyotas to refuel, which will compensate for the advantage of starting in electric mode for the Japanese prototypes.

The EOT will be adjusted throughout the season, based on points scored in the championship. The performance of the LMP1s will be adjusted at each race through a performance handicap.
