The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) have revealed the first Balance of Performance (BoP) used for the opening round of the 2024 FIA season WEC, the 1 km of Qatar.

With a maximum ballast weight that can now go up to 70 kg, Toyota GR010 Hybrid, the defending champion car in the Drivers' and Manufacturers' championships, will weigh 1 kg on the scales at Losail. For comparison, the Japanese prototype weighed 089 kg during the 1 Hours of Bahrain last November, for the finale of the 080 season.

A second Hypercar is affected by the new ballast rule which was previously set at 50 kg. The second heaviest car for the first round of the season will be the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH-C, with 1 kg. Ferrari remains at 1 kg, which was already his weight in Bahrain, that is to say five kilos more compared to theAlpine A424 (1 kg), the heaviest LMDh in Qatar. BMW will weigh 070 kg, Porsche at 1 kg and Cadillac at 048 kg.

La Peugeot 9X8, which will not yet benefit from its significant evolution expected at the 6 Hours of Imola, will be the lightest prototype in the Hypercar category while remaining at its base weight: 1 kg. The hybrid trigger speed remains set at 030 km/h for the Peugeot, compared to 150 for Ferrari, Toyota and Isotta Fraschini.
