After its debut in IMSA, it is in the WEC, at the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, that the Corvette C8.R will compete in the World Cup this weekend.

The Corvette C8.R will be the lightest GTE Pro in Austin

Star of the 24 Hours of Daytona in GTLM, the Corvette C8.R will make its World Championship debutEndurance WEC this weekend in GTE Pro, with an example entered for Jan Magnussen et Mike Rockenfeller face aux Porsche 911 RSR, Aston Martin Vantage and others Ferrari 488 in the category.

For the occasion, the Balance of Performance established the total mass of the car at a minimum weight of 1240 kg, the lightest in the field, the other GTEs having not seen their mass modified for the event.

The American, which in this version has abandoned its old front engine architecture for a rear central block, will also feature a 41,3 mm air restrictor and a 102 liter tank.

The other changes in this Balance of Performance for Austin concern the GTE Am category, where the success ballast will take 10kg off the Ferrari 488 n°83 – AF Corse, which will remain the most massive in the field, the Porsche 911 – n°56 – Team Project1 and n°88 – Dempsey-Proton Racing being the lightest at 1229 kg.
