The 2019-2020 WEC final brought forward by a week

This morning F1 has confirmed the progress of its end of season, including two Grands Prix in Bahrain. A decision which forced the WEC to bring forward the finale of its 2019-2020 season by one week.

Scheduled for Saturday November 21, the 2020 opus of the 8 Hours of Bahrain will finally be organized on November 14, with a start at 14 p.m. and therefore an arrival at 22 p.m.

“As we very clearly announced when we published our revised calendar in April, the dates were subject to change depending on the evolution of the current health crisis but also depending on the calendars of the other FIA World Championships, explained Gérard Neveu. We are very fortunate that the Bahrain International Circuit is so accommodating in hosting the WEC during what will be an extremely busy period for them. »

The bad news is the conflict of dates that there is now with the 12 Hours of Sebring, final of theIMSA SportsCar Championship.

“It is of course less pleasing that this new date now conflicts with the IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring,” continued the WEC general director. But the condensed racing schedules in the second half are the result of an unprecedented situation and we believe the impact on both series will be minimal. »

As a reminder, the next WEC meeting is scheduled for September 19 and 20. This is obviously the 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
