The Ginetta G60-LT-P1 returns to the track in Spain

La Ginetta G60-LT-P1 had only contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans during this 2018-2019 Super-Season of WEC, after missing the opening of the debates almost a year ago in Spa.

Since then, there has been no trace of the British LM P1s, which had been operated by the CEFC TRSM Racing entity, before financial problems in particular stopped the adventure of the team and the Ginetta prototype.

The latter, however, seems to be returning to the forefront somewhat, after a first shakedown a few days ago, followed by a three-day driving session at the Motorland of Aragon in Spain.

Under the hood, gone is the Mecachrome engine and now places the AER turbo unit for the G60-LT-P1, which was entrusted during these runs to Charlie Robertson and Mike Simpson.

“Of course we have confidence in the car, but it is fantastic to see that not only its own performance on track, but also our performance against that of our rivals, confirms that, would like to clarify Lawrence Tomlinson, president of Ginetta.

Not only did the car have pace that would put it among the fastest in the class, but it also proved that performance is repeatable. Our stints throughout the test, in both dry and wet, were consistent and fast. »

If the Ginetta will not be back at the end of the 2018-2019 Super-Season, the English brand is aiming for a potential return in 2019-2020. “We talk to customers for the car, but of course we would like to have conversations with more people, continues Tomlinson.

There is still time to engage with us and learn more about what we already know is a car capable of being in the highest international competition at least for the next two seasons of the WEC, and capable of competing and beat the competition in a global championship. »

After the words, now it's time for action at Ginetta, which unsuccessfully faced the BR1, ENSO CLM P1/01 and other Rebellion R13s in the WEC during the last 24 Hours of Le Mans.
