Porsche n°1 wins in Mexico

After the Nürburgring (Germany) last July, the Porsche No. 1 of Webber-Hartley-Bernhard signed its second consecutive victory by winning the 6 Hours of Mexico where the WEC moved for the first time. The 919 Hybrid of the reigning world champions won with a one-minute lead over the #7 Audi of Fässler-Lotterer, while Toyota completed the podium with the No. 6 of Sarrazin-Conway-Kobayashi at the end of an event disrupted by several showers in the second part.

The second Porsche LMP1 driven by Dumas-Lieb-Jani finished fourth ahead of the No.13 Rebellion R-One of Kraihamer-Tuscher-Imperatori. The Porsche crew maintains a solid lead in the Championship. The other two LMP1-Hs experienced significant problems. The Audi No. 8 of Duval-Di Grassi-Jarvis finished at the bottom of the standings following brake problems, while the No. 5 Toyota of Buemi-Nakajima retired due to electrical problem.

RGR Sport by Morand took home victory in LMP2 with the Ligier JS P2 of Gonzalez-Albuquerque-Senna winning with less than two seconds ahead of theAlpine A460 n°36 from Menezes-Stone-Richelmi slowed down by a penalty following an infraction in the pits. The No. 2 Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports Ligier JS P31 of Dalziel-Derani-Cumming completed the class podium three laps behind the winners.

The Oreca 05 of Rusinov-Rast-Brundle's G-Drive Racing was well on its way to winning, but the #2 LMP26 suffered from a broken brake disc half an hour from the finish and was only able to take eighth place in the category.

In GTE Pro, Aston Martin returned to victory by winning with the No. 97 Vantage of Turner-Stanaway for a nine-second lead over the Ferrari 488 n°51 AF Corse from Bruni-Calado. The second Vantage in the category led by Thiim-Sorensen completed the podium 18 seconds behind the winners. The leading quartet is completed by the second AF Corse of Rigon-Bird which preceded the No. 67 Ford GT of Franchitti-Priaulx-Tincknell. Darren Turner finds himself at the top of the GTE Pro standings following Pla-Mücke's poor performance in the #66 Ford GT.

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing scored its first victory in GTE Am with the Porsche 911 RSR of Long-Heinemeier Hansson-Al Qubaisi victorious ahead of the F458 Italia n°83 AF COrse of Perrodo-Collard-Aguas and the 911 RSR KCMG of Ried-Henzler -Camathias.
