The Porsche n°2 had to be strong to obtain the title

“The start of the race was promising, commented Neel Jani. Nous ne pouvions qu’espérer que la Toyota n°6 (de Kobayashi-Conway-Sarrazin) does not win the race and avoid taking risks on the track. »

The crew of the victorious Porsche n°2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans who has not won the slightest podium since the double round of the clock in Sarthe, finally won by 12,5 points on Duval-Di Grassi-Jarvis, the drivers of the Audi n°8 victorious in Bahrain.

“We were constantly oversteering after the contact Neel suffered, explained Romain Dumas, but we didn't have to attack due to the situation in the Championship. It was important for us to finish the race without any mistakes and I'm delighted that it worked. »

The title won by the drivers of the No. 2 Porsche cannot, however, be explained solely by the victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where the points were doubled.

« This car was the only LMP1 not to spend a single second in the garage due to technical problems during the 2016 races., underlined Andreas Seidl, Porsche Team Principal. We will now enjoy the celebrations and focus on preparations for 2017 after a short break. »
