The #7 Toyota keeps control after Q2 at Le Mans

Toyota Gazoo Racing provisionally signs the double after Q2 of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the two TS050 Hybrids of Kamui Kobayashi and Kazuki Nakajima having improved the times achieved the day before in Q1.

The #7 Toyota keeps control after Q2 at Le Mans

Toyota a pris clairement la main à l’issue de la seconde séance qualificative des 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019. The Japanese brand secures for the moment the first row of the 87th edition of the Sarthe double clock, with the TS050 Hybrid n°7 and n°8.

No. 7 of Kobayashi - Conway – Lopez, already in the lead yesterday after Q1, accelerated again with the Japanese driver, author of a new reference in 3’15”497. The second hybrid LM P1, entrusted to Fernando Alonso, Sébastien Buemi et Kazuki Nakajima moved up to second position at 411 thousandths, a lap achieved by Nakajima at the start of Q2.

SMP Racing can count on the #1 BR11 of Vandoorne – Petrov – Aleshin to maintain third place, Aleshin having clocked 3’16”953. Rebellion Racing remains in contact with provisional 4th place for the R13 n°1 of Jani – Lotterer – Senna, Jani having signed a 3’17”313. The top 5 is completed by the second BR1 n°17 ​​– SMP Racing of Orudzhev – Sarrazin – Sirotkin.

DragonSpeed ​​dominates LM P2

The provisional pole in LM P2 still remains the property of the DragonSpeed ​​team after the two hours of running in Q2, with Pastor Maldonado remaining the fastest driver at the wheel of the No. 07 Oreca 31. The Venezuelan lowered the benchmark to 3’26”490, and is now ahead of the #07 Oreca 38 – Jackie Chan DC Racing of Tung – Aubry – Richelmi by a little over three tenths.

Despite engine shutdown problems, theAlpine A470 n°36 – Signatech Alpine de negrao - Stone – Thiriet retains provisional third place ahead of the No. 07 Oreca 28 – TDS Racing Duval – Vaxivière – Perrodo.

Porsche reprend la main en GTE Pro et reste leader en GTE Am

The GTE Pro category did not see any major changes in hierarchy in the top 5 until less than ten minutes remaining. Michael Christensen put the No. 911 Porsche 92 RSR back in the lead in 3’49″388, 36 thousandths ahead of the No. 7 Corvette C3.R of Garcia – Magnussen – Rockefeller.

Leader yesterday after Q1, the No. 67 Ford GT of Priaulx – Tincknell – Bomarito is now in 3rd position, 142 thousandths behind the leading Porsche and ahead of the No. 911 Porsche 93 RSR of Pilet – Tandy – Bamber and the no. 91 of Bruni–Makowiecki–Lietz. The first four cars are grouped into 170 thousandths.

Porsche maintains the double in GTE Am with the #911 – Dempsey-Proton Racing 88 of Cairoli – Roda – Hoshino and #56 – Team Project1 of Bergmeister – Lindsay – Perfetti. Giancarlo Fisichella replaced the Ferrari 488 n°54 – Sprit of Race in third place three tenths from Cairoli's reference.

Remember that the GTE Am peloton lost this Thursday the No. 911 Porsche 99 RSR – Dempsey-Proton Racing of Krohn – Jonsson – Long, after Krohn's withdrawal following his exit from the track yesterday in free practice.
