The #7 Toyota wins at Fuji, Porsche wins in GTE

We had to wait until the fourth round of the 2018-19 Super Season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) so that the trio of the Toyota TS050 n°7 can collect a winner's trophy. In Fuji (Japan) on Sunday, Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José Maria Lopez won after six hours of racing.

Contested on a wet track during the first minutes, the event was clear in terms of the nature of the race in LM P1. Holder on paper of pole, but disqualified due to excessive speed in the pits, the No. 7 quickly overtook the LM P1 Non-Hybrid and was in the lead of the event before mid-race.

The No. 8 Toyota Sébastien Buemi, Fernando Alonso et Kazuki Nakajima finished in second place without really worrying the sister car. On the third step of the podium, we find the Rebellion R13 of André Lotterer, Neel Jani and Bruno Senna, rejected after four laps. Note the abandonment due to an accident of the Rebellion n°3 driven by Gustavo Menezes.

En LM P2, the victory went to Jackie Chan DC Racing, the team flying the Chinese flag achieving the double with the n°37 (Jaafar-Tan-Jeffri) in front of the n°38 (Tung-Aubry-Richelmi).

The category GTE Pro was disputed and despite the advantage taken by the Aston Martin Vantage in testing, the green cars fell into line on Sunday and did not even finish in the top 5. Victorious at Le Mans in June, Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen (Porsche) drive the nail home with the first position.

The BMWs have made progress since their first race at Spa (Belgium) in May, as evidenced by the second place won by Tom Blomqvist and Antonio Félix Da Costa. The Ford GT of Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell failed less than a second behind the M8 GTE. As is often the case, it is in this category that the show was the most important:

Finally, the class GTE Am saw the success of another Porsche 911 RSR, that of the new team Project 1, led by official driver Jörg Bergmeister, associated with Patrick Lindsey and Egidio Perfetti. Present on behalf of Dempsey-Proton Racing, Julien Andlauer encountered problems and finished second to last.
