The ACO wants to bring performances closer

Why these changes to the 2010 regulations?

A regulation must evolve from one year to the next to adapt to the context. When you publish it, competitors interpret it, work on it, find solutions, performances evolve. Until the moment when we must avoid escalation of performance in order to guarantee fairness and security.

Did you work in close consultation with the manufacturers?

The ACO has a lot of data, since we have at our disposal a multitude of sensors and chronometric readings. But we have also always worked in permanent contact with manufacturers. The latter provide us with their own data, which we analyze taking into account the performances, advantages and disadvantages of the different types of engines (original GT1 engine in a proto, diesel, or traditional gasoline unit). Therefore, our role is to define a fair settlement, allowing each option to be expressed.

Will engine equivalences bring the performance of gasoline and diesel prototypes even closer?

It is on the track that we will be able to appreciate the effects very precisely, in any case, that is the aim of this adjustment which required enormous work. As you know, our races feature many different categories, in which the technologies themselves are different. With the appearance of new cars, we must ensure that all these technologies coexist correctly, and regularly make adjustments to guarantee technical fairness.
