Lapierre in the seat of the 908

La Peugeot 908 HDi FAP has continued to make people envious this season. Several teams had positioned themselves to run the “private” 908 in 2010, in order to have a chance of getting on the podium in the next 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ACO regulations still being favorable to Diesel engines and, therefore, to the Audi R15 TDi and Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. It was ultimately Oreca which inherited the “private” 908, and it is now the question of the crew who will pilot the Lioness that arises.

For its part, Nicolas lapierre is certain to be part of it, both for the Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Very consistent, impressive on several occasions this season, the native of Thonon-les-Bains continues with Oreca and inherits the wheel of the 908 of the Var team. “ I can confirm today that I would drive this 908! Is it a little early Christmas? », confides Nicolas on his official website.

« I signed for at least two more seasons with the team, continues the pilot. It was the evening of Silverstone and at the time Hugues de Chaunac told me that he was onto something interesting. I trusted him: when he says that, it’s because he’s on to something big! » The big blow, in addition to the allocation of the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, is the agreement between Peugeot and Oreca for the Lion firm to equip the Var team's prototype with engines from the 2011 season. But, Before this tempting deadline, the Signes team will be able to benefit from a prototype that won this year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

« With the Peugeot 908, Oreca will have the best possible equipment next year, continues the Grand Prix winner F3 from Macau in 2003. Consequently, the objectives will be high: to fight for the Le Mans Series title and above all to succeed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We will have to be good, but the team has already shown its qualities in terms of operation, with a faultless performance at the last Le Mans. Needless to say, I can't wait to discover this 908! »

Aligned this season with Olivier Panis to constitute Oreca's shock crew, Nicolas Lapierre should continue alongside the Grenoblois. The latter had in fact affirmed that his pursuit of endurance was totally linked to the allocation, or not, of the “private” 908 by Oreca (see elsewhere). All the signals are green for the collaboration to continue.
