The qualifying session was shortened following the accident of Matthieu Lahaye on his No. 15 Oak Pescarolo Judd. Nevertheless, Nicolas lapierre had time to set the 4th fastest time in qualifying, allowing the Lapierre-Duval-Panis to start just behind the three Audi R18s.
