Le Mans – André Lotterer: “Losing an hour at Le Mans is expensive”

André, what was the program yesterday for Audi No. 1?

Things went pretty well for us. We did not try to aim for pole as was possible Loïc duval on No. 2. We had priorities, notably balance issues with the car, and we also wanted to test some set-ups. It must be said that during the test day, we only had one hour of driving in the dry.

Didn't the fact that the session was shortened bother you?

This bothered us a little in the sense that Marcel (Fässler, editor's note) was not able to cover all his night laps. This will be one of our priorities today, but I think we are not the only ones in this situation. It should also be remembered that Le Mans, it is a fairly limited working time. Of course we have some driving, but a track that cannot be simulated anywhere else. There are three of us in the car, we have to pace ourselves, see if the conditions change? Time passes very quickly, and losing an hour at Le Mans is expensive.

Will we see your car go for pole tonight?

We'll probably try it once, but we'll have to deal with the program first. Marcel didn't drive yesterday, so we're going to give him more time to acclimatize with the car. It remains to be seen whether at the end of the session we will do it and who will be behind the wheel. This will be done based on all these variables. Now, pole is not an end in itself, but it's always nice to start from the front, and it's also worth a championship point?

Last question, are you afraid of rain?

Apart from visibility, not really, especially since in slow corners, our quattro system, even not for long, brings a small advantage. Be careful though, recovering energy in the rain is not easy, especially if you lock the wheels. Afterwards, if the weather changes, you will have to make the right decisions, because victory depends on the details.
