Le Mans – Like a fairy tale at Corvette

The exit from the track de Jan Magnussen in qualifying practice on Friday evening, had cast a chill over the American clan. Without a replacement chassis, the Garcia trio? Magnussen? Briscoe, who could aim for the forefront given his status and his results at the start of the season on the other side of the Atlantic, found himself on foot.

But it was without counting on #64 and the Jordan Taylor crew? Tommy Milner? Oliver Gavin, who came to take over perfectly, and prove to be both reliable and efficient, when his rivals Ferrari, Porsche et Aston Martin each experienced their share of mechanical problems such as the gearbox of AF Corse's No. 458 Ferrari 51 Italia on Sunday and racing incidents, notably the collision between the No. 99 Vantage of Fernando Rees and the Oreca 05 n°46 of Thiriet by TDS Racing during the night.

“It’s almost like a fairy tale,
admits Oliver Gavin. The week started badly with the problems of the No. 63, which was unable to start. The whole team came together and to have this result today is just fantastic. We had a great race with Aston Martin, Ferrari or Porsche, but in the end we had the best car. »

This victory at Le Mans had been expected since 2011 by Corvette and the success in GTE Pro of Beretta – Milner – Garcia. The return of Ford next year also promises a great fratricidal clash between the two brands from Detroit (Michigan) against the elite of world GT.
