The positions did not change much since the safety car returned to the track after another downpour occurred in Les Hunaudières. There Porsche No. 20 of Timo Bernhard is temporarily in the lead by extending his stint, but the Toyota No. 7 theoretically remains in the lead of the race since it made an additional stop, Stéphane Sarrazin having taken the place of Alex Wurz. The No. 2 Audi of Benoît Tréluyer (who replaces André Lotterer) remains in front of the No. 1 of Tom Kristensen who is two minutes behind the leader of the race.
The LMP2 category was marked by the collision between the No. 03 Oreca 48R of Murphy Prototypes (Berthon-Gonzalez-Chandhok) and the No. 41 Zytek of Greaves Motorsport (Munemann-Latif-Winslow). Franck Mailleux keeps the lead on the Oreca 03R of the Performance race with more than a minute ahead of theAlpine now led by Paul-Loup Chatin and the Morand Racing Morgan of Christian Klien. Porsche is regaining its colors in GTE Pro by pointing to the front rows, but it is the Ferrari #51 of Toni Vilander which is the first car in the category with four stops ahead of the #97 Vantage of Stefan Mücke and the #73 Corvette of Antonio Garcia. Aston Martin took the lead in GTE Am with Pedro Lamy in the lead ahead of the Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Patrick Long.
