Le Mans – H+8: The No. 8 Toyota in the garage

While the eighth hour of racing was almost over at Le Mans, the Toyota n ° 8 of Sébastien Buemi was returned to the garage following a fire in the front brakes. The TS050 Hybrid took second place in the Porsche n°1 now driven by Neel Jani. The 919 Hybrid is 43s from the lead in the race. The Japanese team indicated that it was actually a problem with the hybrid system.

The Toyota No. 9 where Nicolas lapierre replaced Yuji Kunimoto climbs to 3rd position but remains one lap behind the leaders.

The gap narrows in LMP2

If the Oreca 07s of Vaillante Rebellion remain at the top of the LMP2, it is now the No. 13 of Nelson Piquet Jr which is in first place after the No. 31 of Bruno Senna received a drive through for overtaking in a “slow zone”.

The #38 of Jackie Chan DC Racing led by Oliver Jarvis has dropped to 3rd position but is several minutes ahead of the #40 of Graff Racing of James Allen which has one stop less and the #25 of CEFC Manor TRS Racing entrusted to Simon Trummer.

The No. 64 Corvette in difficulty

Tommy Milner spun at the exit of the du Pont corner at the wheel of the No. 64 Corvette. The C7R was evacuated by crane after becoming stuck in the gravel trap following a puncture, presumably following previous contact with the tire wall.

Davide Rigon received a drive through for exceeding the limits of the track while the Ferrari n°71 AF Corse occupies 8th place in GTE Pro.

THEAston Martin #97 of Daniel Serra remains in control of the category but only has a lead of around ten seconds over the #67 Ford of Harry Tincknell. The #92 Porsche of Michael Christensen moved up to 3rd in GTE Pro ahead of the #66 Ford of Olivier Pla and the second Vantage entrusted to Marco Sorensen.

The JMW Motorsport Ferrari driven by William Stevens took the lead in the GTE Am race following a burst front-right tire on the #98 Vantage of Pedro Lamy who fell to penultimate place in the category.
