Le Mans – The starting line moved

In addition to being shortened by three meters following the modifications made to the turns Porsche, the Le Mans route will undergo another major, if not historic, change. Indeed, in order to allow the 60 competitors at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be all lined up on the pit straight when the tricolor flag is waved, the decision was made to push back the starting line by 145 meters. There should therefore be no more cars in the junction chicanes when hostilities begin, as shown in the photo above. A modification which applies to all events organized on the Sarthe circuit, the big one like the Bugatti.

The start will therefore be given at the place where the car having taken pole position is placed, during the spur. When it is stopped, this will allow spectators positioned in the stands and stands located in front of the pit building to see the entire field.

A detail not to be overlooked, as the finish line does not change position, it will now be necessary to subtract 145 meters from the number of laps completed multiplied by the length of the route taken when calculating the distance covered during an event.
