Le Mans – The high downforce aero kit tested on the Dallara

The Dallara P217's "high downforce" aero kit will be tested this afternoon during free practice for the 24 Hours of Le Mans disputed between 16 and 20 p.m.

Dallara is seeking to obtain more aero with its LMP2s which achieved the best maximum speeds during the Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 4 (with a peak of more than 340km/h), but the feedback from the drivers has highlighted a lack of grip in corners.

Ligier wanted to approve a new aero kit for the 24 Hours of Le Mans after the Ligier JS P217s lacked pace against the Oreca 07s during the Test Day, but the other manufacturers vetoed it.

The first Ligier JS P217, that of United Autosports led by Albuquerque-Owen-De Sadeleer, only finished 14th behind 13 Oreca 07s, 3''7 behind the benchmark set by Nelson Panciatici on theAlpine A470 n°35 (which is a rebadged Oreca chassis).
