Le Mans – G-Drive and TDS appeals rejected, Signatech Alpine vainqueur

The result of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 is now official. And for good reason, the FIA Court of Appeal decided to reject the appeals of the TDS Racing and G-Drive Racing teams, disqualified during post-race technical checks. The victory on the green carpetAlpine A470 n°36 of Nicolas lapierre-Pierre Thiriet-André negrao in the LM P2 category is therefore well and truly approved.

The No. 07 and No. 26 Oreca 28s – both run by TDS Racing although the first mentioned was registered under the G-Drive Racing banner – were disqualified after the alleged non-compliance of their refueling lap. During the race, some of their opponents expressed their surprise at the speed at which these two cars filled up with fuel, namely around 5” faster than the competition. The No. 26 entrusted to Roman Rusinov-Andrea Pizzitola-Jean Eric Vergne had originally finished first in the LM P2 category (5th in the general classification), while the No. 28 of François Perrodo-Loïc duval-Matthieu Vaxivière finished just off the podium in the class.

Behind Signateh Alpine, the leading trifecta of LM P2 is completed by Vincent Capillaire-Jonathan Hirschi-Tristan Gommendy (Oreca 07 n°39 du Graff) and Hugo de Sadeleer-Juan Pablo Montoya-Will Owen (Ligier JS P217 n°32 United Autosports), who finally appear on the podium.
