Le Mans – Teams ready for weigh-in

The Weighing of the 82th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans will begin tomorrow from 14:30 p.m. at Place de la République when the No. 2 Oak Racing Ligier JS P35 driven by Alex Brundle, Jann Mardenborough and Mark Shulzhitskiy will enter the enclosure where technical and administrative checks will be carried out. The stewards expect no less than 55 cars and 165 drivers over the two days (Millenium Racing package).

The checks take place in three phases. The first step concerns the measurements carried out on the car. Placed on a horizontal platform, all dimensions are scrutinized by lasers (width, length, overhang, wheelbase, height of the fin and fin, dimensions of the cutouts above the wings, etc. ). Weight is also measured. Then, the car is placed on a lift so that the officials can inspect the underside of the car, checking in particular the size of the diffusers, the board which guarantees minimum ground clearance and aerodynamic safety... The commissioners finally check the elements safety by dismantling part of the bodywork: fire extinguishers, belts, circuit breaker, headlights, indicators, hybrid electrical safety? The fuel tank or the engine oil vapor collector are not forgotten. The timekeepers also check the operation of the transponder and the lamps which provide information on the position. The data acquisition element and the new “marshalling” system which informs the driver of the actions of the marshals on the track are also checked. The study of these elements requires on average 50 minutes per car.

The crews must also show their credentials. The pilots present themselves with their suits for administrative checks where licenses and safety equipment are checked. Each competitor is also weighed so that their weight is subtracted from that of the car during checks carried out during qualifying practice. Individual and team photos, interviews and signing sessions complete the event.

The organizers have optimized the location of the enclosure to provide spectators with better visibility. Place de République will also be animated by a village of exhibitors. The timetables can be consulted on this link (the Oreca 03 n°22 of Millenium Racing scheduled for Monday June 9 at 16:20 p.m. will not be present).
