Lucas di Grassi will not compete in his 5th participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans This year. The Brazilian injured his ankle during an indoor soccer match this week and did not receive clearance from doctors to take part in the double round of the clock in Sarthe.
“Unfortunately, I will miss the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year due to a fracture of the fibula (at the ankle) which requires surgery. It was a difficult decision, but I will follow the doctors' advice. I wish the best to my teammates Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado and to the entire AF Corse family”, commented Lucas di Grassi on Twitter.
I'll sadly miss this year's # LeMans24 with a broken fibula that requires surgery. This was a hard decision but I'm following medical advise.

AF Corse now had to urgently find a replacement to complete the crew of the Ferrari 488 GTE n°51 registered in GTE Pro where James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi are already registered. It is Michele Rugolo who will replace the Brazilian engaged with Abt Audi Sport in Formula e.
Lucas di Grassi took second place with Audi as his best result in 2014.
