Le Mans – Marc Gené knows his subject

The Spaniard Marc Gené was initially scheduled to take part in this 82nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans within Jota Sport on the Zytek LM P2, but the violent exit from the track of which Loïc Duval was the victim yesterday in free practice changed the situation. The Frenchman was not declared fit to return to racing for this weekend, and Gené, as reserve driver, was recalled by Audi, thereby freeing up the place for Oliver Turvey within Jota Sport.

Gené, however, is not entering unfamiliar territory in the No. 18 R1, he who knows the LM P1-H prototype well. “I had four days of testing, two at Paul Ricard and two in Aragon, so I am used to the different features of the car, indicates the Spaniard. I am confident about the track because I tested in LM P2. However, he will have to complete the regulation night laps this evening during the last two qualifying sessions. Apart from my laps, I will leave the qualifying to Tom (Kristensen) and Lucas (di Grassi). We will have to sacrifice a little of the session for my riding, but we will have to be good for the race. »

The last two qualifying practice sessions for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr, from 19 p.m. to 21 p.m. for the first and from 22 p.m. to midnight for the second.
