Le Mans – McNish fears the Toyota TS030

Author of the best time of the Test Day at the wheel of the No. 18 Audi R2 e-tron quattro that he drives with Rinaldo Capello and Tom Kristensen, Alan McNish fears the Japanese manufacturer's LM P1. According to him, the TS030 is faster than the final rankings from the Test Day suggest, although there are still questions about the reliability of this new prototype.

La Toyota drove alongside his rivals for the first time during the Test Day held at the Le Mans circuit ten days ago, finishing less than a second and a half behind the Audi R18s.

« The two things I take into account are that they were fast all the time and he had very good top speed,» explains McNish. “ In terms of top speed, they had an advantage of 8 to 10 km/h over us. Wurz was in purple in the intermediate sector when there was a red flag at the end of the day. If you just average the best split times on his final lap, he probably would have been first or second overall.»

« We can say that the ball is in their court because they have the best top speeds, a tank that can hold 15 liters more, so they have a wider strategy window. Their car seems reliable from what I saw during these 8 hours of testing. They're not there just for fun. »
