Le Mans – Nissan returns in 2014 with the 56th stand

Fifteen years after the end of its official program in Endurance, it was in 1999, with the R391 prototypes, Nissan announced its return to Sarthe. At the new headquarters of the Nismo sports division in Yokohama, Carlos Ghosn unveiled the various programs of the Japanese brand. It will therefore be a return to Le Mans in 2014 through the 56th stand set up by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest in 2012, and inaugurated by the Delta Wing. This stand aims to promote new energies or technologies aimed at reducing consumption and emissions.

For Nissan, this return in 2014 will be illustrated by the commitment of a car using electric propulsion. Carlos Ghosn explained the reasons for this return: “We will return to Le Mans with a vehicle that will serve as a high-speed test bed in extreme environments, both for our road cars and our racing cars using electric technology. ". This commitment in 2014 could possibly be followed by a return to LM P1 from 2015. Let us remember, however, that Nissan was associated last year with the Delta Wing project, holder of the 56th stand at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and which had enjoyed real popular success.
