Le Mans – Sébastien Loeb Racing sharpens its weapons

The Sebastian Loeb Racing will not be idle this week. The Alsatian team will be present in the GT Tour round at Lédenon where it will compete in the French GT Championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup France as well as at Le Mans where it will prepare for the 24 Hours with the new Oreca 03R. This development includes a new aero package, including a modification of the front hood which incorporates a new treatment of the wheel arch, and a revised rear block with new features on the upper part of the shield. Except for Jan Charouz who scored a podium in LMP2 in 2010, Vincent Capillaire and René Rast are preparing to make their first start on the double clock even if the Frenchman already knows the track.

“The first two rounds of theELMS allowed us to put everything in place and the performance achieved at Imola validated our move to the next stage, Le Mans » explains Franck Tiné, the sports director, who highlights the second place won by the team during the second round of the European season by Vincent Capillaire and Jan Charouz. “Morale is boosted for this crucial day in our preparation. The team has already raced during the Test Day, but this time the flavor is different since there is our first start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans looming on the horizon. It is a first concrete step in the legend, and an important mark for the drivers who, apart from Jan, will discover the circuit in LMP2. At the same time, a big day of work awaits us with Michelin and our first laps with the Oreca 03R. Our objective is clearly to start this Le Mans challenge on a good note in order to approach the race week well. »

Dominique Heintz will be retained at Lédenon for the GT Tour, but the co-founder of the Alsatian team will nevertheless closely follow the progress of the team during the Test Day which will offer eight hours of driving with the new Oreca chassis adapted to the circuit of Mans. “ Le Mans is a project that we started from the creation of the team and this test day is an important step. We have a precise schedule to follow and we know that this running can condition the week of racing. Beyond the position on the timesheet and the raw result of this full-scale test session, it is in the approach that we must be on point. The team must seize this opportunity to fully get their bearings, just like the drivers. This is our last preparation match and we must succeed. »
