Le Mans – Strakka withdraws, Krohn takes place

Five days before Test Day 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ACO has just confirmed the withdrawal of Strakka Racing for the 82nd edition contested on June 14 and 15. The British team had high hopes of being ready for the double round of the clock at La Sarthe, but Danny Watts' exit from the track at Eau Rouge during a private test session at Spa-Francorchamps caused too much damage to allow for timely repairs.

“It happened on the first day and damage is inevitable when you go out to this place”, commented Team Manager Karl Patman. “Danny Watts was driving when it happened. Luckily there was nothing wrong with it, but we didn't have time to repair the car. The schedule was tight. » The disappointment is palpable for the entire team and its founder Nick Leventis who nevertheless intends to commit to WEC as quickly as possible. “Strakka Racing would like to apologize to the organizers, technical partners and spectators for this late withdrawal from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Everyone worked tirelessly to get this car ready on time and we are really sad that it won't be this year. »

It's here Ferrari 458 Italia from Krohn Racing entered in GTE Am which will inherit this place left available. The Italian with the green livery will be driven by Tracy Krohn, the Swede Niclas Jönsson and the Briton Ben Collins. However, the American team will not be present at the Test Day since the regulations do not oblige this team and these drivers to participate.

The new list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans now includes 9 LMP2s, 18 LMP2s, 9 GTE Pros and 19 GTE Ams, without forgetting the Nissan Zeod RC which will occupy the 56th stand.
