Krumm, Mardenborough and Ordóñez with Nissan

It was during the Chicago Motor Show that Nissan decided to lift the veil on the identity of three other drivers in its LM P1 program, after the Spaniard Marc Gené, the French Olivier Pla, the British Harry Tincknell and the Japanese Tsugio Matsuda.

Unsurprisingly, Jann Mardenborough will be there. Winner of the 2011 GT Academy Europe, brilliant last year in the GP3 Series and at Le Mans in the Ligier JS P2 G-Drive by Oak Racing, the 23-year-old Briton will compete in the entire season of the world championship.Endurance, either on the No. 22 on which his compatriot Harry Tincknell is already registered, or at the wheel of the No. 23 where he would have Olivier Pla as his teammate.

The first winner in the history of the GT Academy, in 2008, Lucas Ordóñez will only be part of the party in Sarthe, on the No. 21 with Tsugio Matsuda. Indeed, promoted by Nissan in the premier category of Super GT for the first three rounds, during which he will replace Michael Krumm, he will not be able to go to the other rounds. As a reminder, the 29-year-old Spaniard already has two Le Mans podiums in LM P2, in 2011 with Signatech Nissan and in 2013 with Greaves Motorsport…along with Jann Mardenborough and Michael Krumm.

Michael Krumm, precisely. A long-time Nissan driver and the first to board the GT-R LM Nismo, the 44-year-old German will also be part of the squad. He will compete in the first three rounds, and will only resume his place in Super GT after the classic tricolor.

“Jann and Lucas have proven time and time again that they are true professional drivers, including finishing on the podium in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, highlights Darren Cox, Nismo's head of brand, marketing and sales. What looks like an overnight success is actually the result of years of work by Jann, Lucas and Nismo. These guys are proof that if you really want something and are willing to give anything to get it, then you can make it happen. It is this philosophy that we also share for our LM P1 project. Drivers like Krumm bring the extra dose of experience vital for such a program. We are here to evolve at the highest level and not to be in numbers. It's no coincidence that drivers like Mark Webber find themselves racing at Le Mans. It's the most fearsome race on the planet. The opposition is strong but we look forward to joining the fight. »

Associations and final drivers will be announced later.
