Porsche announced it in 2015, three 919 Hybrids would be lined up, both in Spa (May 2) and in 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13-14). If the German firm had pulled off a nice coup by hiring the pilot F1 Force India Nico Hulkenberg, she had not yet confirmed her teammates for the second and third rounds of the WEC.
As we already mentioned in our columns (see Ah n°1997 in particular), the British Nick Tandy, 30, GT driver of the brand in the United Sportscar Championship in 2014, will be joined by New Zealander Earl Bamber, 24 years old, winner of the last edition of the Supercup to support Hulkenberg. The latter had taken to the track with Porsche during tests carried out in Abu Dhabi.
Unlike 2014 where the two 919 Hybrids sported the No. 14 and No. 20 in WEC, the LM P1s of Weissach will be flocked of n°17 and 18 for the two models entered throughout the championship. No. 19 will be given to the Hülkenberg trio? Tandy? Bamber.
