The 24 Hours of Mansell

The Beechdean Motorsport team announced this Monday that it had entered into a long-term agreement with Nigel Mansell to create Beechdean Mansell Motorsport, the team which will compete in the 2010 Le Mans Series season, as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, if the team is chosen by the organizers of the Sarthe race. The British team will field a Ginetta-Zytek Z09R LMP1, and will receive support from Zytek Engineering for its operation.

Leo and Greg Mansell, the sons of the world champion of Formula 1, will be the drivers in the Le Mans Series as well as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They will be joined by their famous father during the legendary double clock tower, as well as during the 1000 km of Silverstone. A race already contested by Nigel and Greg in 2009, with Lawrence Tomlinson, at the wheel of a Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 from the LNT team (25th overall). As for Leo, he competed in the 2009 Le Mans Series season in GT2, at the wheel of a Ferrari F430 from the Modena team, with which he also participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (27th, 7th GT2).

I'm really looking forward to this 2010 season and being able to race with my two sons for the first time. I can confirm that I will be racing with Leo and Greg during the season and, if invited, we will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans together, father and son together in the same team. »
