The end of the season of WEC is approaching and with it, the famous Rookie Test day. This test day, organized the day after the last round of the championship in Bahrain, is an opportunity to see young (or inexperienced) drivers take the wheel of a Hypercar or an LMGT3.
The first two drivers invited for this special day were revealed by the championship this Friday, and the lucky ones are Reshad de Gerus and Gillian Henrion. The first will be aboard the Hypercar that will win the world title (the Porsche 963, the Ferrari 499P or the Toyota GR010), while the second will be at the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 R of the Manthey PureRxcing team, just crowned world champion in LMGT3 at the end of the 6 Hours of Fuji.
The first two drivers for the FIA World Endurance Championship Rookie Test have been revealed – with Reshad De Gerus and Gillian Henrion both being given the opportunity to showcase their skills in Bahrain on 3 November.

Reshad de Gerus, originally from La Réunion, is competing in the European Le Mans Series in LM P2 this season with IDEC Sport. After securing his first podium at Spa-Francorchamps, the Frenchman is currently in 3rd place in the championship, alongside Job van Uitert. He also finished in 3rd place in the LM P2 category in the last 24H of Le Mans, still with IDEC Sport.
“I was very happy to hear the news! This year has been great for me so far, and this is a wonderful opportunity for my career, rejoices the 21-year-old pilot. I feel like all my hard work is really starting to pay off. I am very excited to experience the Hypercar. It will be a completely new experience for me. I know there will be more technology to master and learning how everything works. The Hypercar is heavier than my LM P2 and obviously more powerful, and faster in every way! I will take the test step by step, with the aim of learning as much as possible. My ultimate goal is to race for a manufacturer at Hypercar level, so if I can show my potential in Bahrain, that’s even better!”
He will be accompanied by another Frenchman, Gillian Henrion, who is also running in ELMS but in the lower category, in LM P3, with Team Virage. Winner of the inaugural round in Barcelona, the Nancy native is currently 3rd in the LMP3 championship. Previously, he was crowned Ligier European Series champion in 2022 and Michelin Le Mans Cup champion in 2023.
