Will we see LMDhs on the track before 2023? For the moment we are far from confirmation but the FIA World Council has noted that the new generation of Prototypes has the authorization to run from this year on a race by race basis without the possibility of scoring points.

« To ensure the seamless introduction of cars built to the LMDh technical regulations in 2023, the Council approved these cars in the Hypercar category of this year's FIA World Endurance Championship, on a race-by-race system. , which means they will not be able to score points in 2022, » can we read in the report.

The many manufacturers expected in 2023 like Ferrari, Acura ou encore BMW pourront donc avoir un premier avant-goût plus tôt que prévu. Porsche qui mène déjà des essais sur sa LMDh devrait probablement profiter de cette autorisation pour s’engager sur une manche du WEC. The German manufacturer could therefore send its LMDh onto the track before Peugeot who plans to ride “ in the summer ».

Finally, the FIA World Council approved the introduction of the new LMP2s in the WEC. The next generation is now expected in 2025. in order to allow sufficient time for a thorough review of the technical conditions, to ensure that cost control targets are achieved and to enable a stable transition from the current generation of LMP2 cars. »
