The first guests for the 24 Hours of Le Mans are known

Even before the finals of theELMS and the Michelin Le Mans Cup, last Sunday in Portimão, we knew 32 of the 62 invited to the 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 12-13, 2020).

These are the 30 competitors registered in WEC (provided they have participated in at least 6 other events on the calendar) and the winners of the Jim Trueman and Bob Akin trophies, awarded at the discretion of theIMSA to Bronze or Silver drivers in the LM P2 and GTD categories.

The first was given to Cameron Cassels (Oreca 07 from Performance Tech) and the second to Richard Heistand (Lexus from AIM Vasser Sullivan), the two men benefiting respectively from an invitation to LM P2 and GTE Am, which they will do benefit the stable of their choice. But Cassels will try to get Performance Tech across the Atlantic.

Since Sunday, we have known of six other elected officials. ELMS champion in LM P2, IDEC Sport has a ticket for Le Mans in this same category, just like its runner-up G-Drive Racing.

Luzich Racing and Dempsey-Proton Racing, 1st and 2nd in GTE, have a guaranteed place in GTE Am, while the invitation to the LM P3 champion remains pending, Inter Europol Competition having appealed its downgrade.

But it's a safe bet that the precious ticket will indeed fall into the hands of the Eurointernational team of Giorgio Mondini, seen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010 in a ByKolles Racing Audi R10 TDI. Finally, titled in GT3 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, Kessel Racing is already assured of being able to enter at least one car in GTE Am.
