Toyota Gazoo Racing will have to deal with a TS050 Hybrid with a total mass increased to 932 kg for the 4 Hours of Silverstone, first round of the World Championship.Endurance 2019-2020 this Sunday.
The latest Equivalence of Technology (EoT) table unveiled by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and the FIA confirms the weight gain of the only hybrid LM P1 in the field, with an additional 14 kg compared to the 918 kg displayed on the balance by the Toyota at the Barcelona Prologue.
The non-hybrid LM P1s will start the 2019-2020 campaign with respectively 824 kg for the prototypes powered by an atmospheric unit (Rebellion with the Gibson engine) and 833 kg for the LM P1s benefiting from a turbo engine (the Ginetta G60-LT -P1 with the AER engine).
“During the prologue, we performed analysis on the cars that will compete in Season 8, explain the ACO and the FIA. The main objective of the EOT is to ensure that each technology in LMP1 (hybrid and non-hybrid) presents the same performance potential.
In light of the data collected in July in Barcelona, particularly regarding hybrid cars, we have decided to rework the EOT to ensure we are moving more towards this broader goal.
During the prologue, we deployed a number of measures for the LM P1 category. Alongside a revised EOT, we have equalized the stint duration for all LM P1s and canceled the refueling advantage guaranteed by the regulations to LMP1 H cars.
We also introduced LM P1 success ballast based on championship points and designed to create an exciting championship, race after race.
However, to implement this work, we need a good baseline on EOT. After careful consideration, we decided that an adjustment to the baseline established for Barcelona was necessary. »
