LM P2 – Jokers accepted for Onroak, Dallara and Riley

Discussions around possible jokers granted in LM P2 have been debated recently.
 
Finally, the ACO confirmed today what we announced to you last week (see issue 2135 of AUTOhebdo), namely that Onroak, Dallara and Riley obtained authorization to revise their copy in an attempt to raise it to the level of the reference in the category, which is the Oreca 07.

All three of them will be able to make various changes to their kit Le Mans like their sprint kit. A decision which may appear curious in view of the results of the races, particularly in ELMS, the only championship where three of the four manufacturers in question are represented. After five events, the Oreca 07 has indeed won three events against two in Onroak and one in Dallara.

The press release, which in no way specifies the latitude offered to the manufacturers concerned, specifies that these modifications must not “provide one of them with a regular advantage compared to the reference car”. It will be interesting to see how the governing bodies will be able to control this and what measures they will take if the Ligier JS P217 or the Dallara P217 were to become faster than the 07, which Oreca does not have the right to modify because having worked better than the competition.

As a reminder, these developments must be provided free of charge to the stables.
