Loïc Duval: Difficult to admit the end of the story

For the latest outing of the No. 18 Audi R8 e-tron quattro, the trio Loïc duval – Lucas di Grassi – Oliver Jarvis offered a nice farewell gift to the German firm, which ended its commitment in the premier category of WEC after the race in Bahrain last Sunday.

The emotion was at its height after the finish, both on the podium and in the pits, the Audi clan and the entire paddock being well aware that a page in the history of endurance had just closed.

Loïc Duval shared his feelings with us about this latest ordeal. “For me, the emotion is much stronger today than when I became World Champion in 2013, for different reasons. I'm proud of my title, but I think we had a great season. As a crew, we deserved a World Champion title […]

And when we see the performances we are achieving this year, I am convinced that we would have had the car to prove it next year. Unfortunately, we will not be able to be certain […]

When we look back, we can only recognize that what Audi allowed us to experience was incredible. That's why it's so hard today. If the story hadn't been so beautiful, this day would have been easier to live through. It was a beautiful story whose ending is difficult for us to accept, but there will be more to write, I am convinced. »
