Loïc Duval: “The first time that I have been part of a project from its infancy”

What motivated you to join Peugeot ?

I want to win again Le Mans. And Peugeot has everything it takes to achieve this, as we have seen in the past. And then I had the chance to race with them (in 2010 and 2011 on a 908 HDi FAP operated by Oreca. Editor's note) and I have the feeling of having a job to finish with Peugeot.

To forget this famous 2010 edition?

Two hours before the end of the race, we were on our way to our first podium before suffering a technical failure. This was very difficult to swallow. But that's also where it all started.

How do you view this Hypercar category?

The cars should look great. I can't wait to see the Peugeot in real life. But the real good news is the enthusiasm generated by this category and the number of manufacturers who want to join it. Le Mans returns to its golden age.

You are the eldest and the only one to have won Le Mans. Do you feel invested with a responsibility?

I was lucky to win Le Mans, but everyone will have their contribution to make, including the young people, who will know how to be super fast. In the end, we are a group and must make sure we put all the strengths of each other in the same basket so that Peugeot wins in the end.

Is it satisfying to be involved in a project from the start?

This is the first time that I have been part of a project from its infancy. I can feel the excitement in everyone involved and we are going to make sure that the tool we have will be the best and that we will build, all together, something unique.
