  • Second on the starting grid, the Ferrari 499P No. 83 of Robert Kubica, Robert Shwartzman and Yifei Ye won Lone Star Le Mans, the sixth round of the 2024 season of the World ChampionshipEndurance FIA's six-hour long race. This is the sixth different car to win this season in the FIA's Hypercar category. WEC.
  • The yellow prototype was put into orbit by an excellent first double stint from Robert Kubica. Faster than poleman Antonio Giovinazzi, the Pole took the lead after a team order was given to the Italian to let his pursuer pass. The #51 Ferrari was then eliminated after contact with an LMGT3 during the second hour of the race due to a damaged transmission.
  • Long in the lead, the Ferrari n°83 saw the return of the Toyota No. 7 in the second part of the event. Victory even seemed destined for the trio formed by Kamui Kobayashi, Nyck de Vries et Mike conway, but the Japanese prototype lost the lead of the race during a drive trough in the last hour. This penalty was given for failure to respect the yellow flags.
  • Kobayashi tried to make up ground late in the race and put pressure on Shwartzman, but it was ultimately the Japanese who misbraked at the first corner with less than five minutes to go, allowing the Russian-Israeli to cross the finish line in first place. The #7 Toyota took second ahead of the #50 Ferrari of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen.
  • Cadillac finished just off the podium in its home race with Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber, securing its best result of the season.
  • Best result of the season also for Alpine. After fourth place in Hyperpole on Saturday, the n°35 of Charles Milesi, Paul-Loup Chatin and Ferdinand Habsburg finished the race in the top 5. The event had started badly with a drive through following a collision between the Austrian and Bamber on the first lap.
  • The French manufacturer places its two prototypes in the top 10 with 9th place for the n°36 of Mick Schumacher, Nicolas lapierre and Matthieu Vaxiviere.
  • The first Peugeot finished in 12th place with the #93 of Jean-Eric Vergne, Mikkel Jensen and Nico Müller. The #94 retired.
  • Starting from pole position, theAston Martin Heart of Racing Team's No. 27 Vantage co-driven by Ian James, Daniel Mancinelli and Alex Riberas won masterfully in GT3.
  • Next meeting for the WEC, the 6 Hours of Fuji, from September 15.
