Luc Alphand dreams of Le Mans

Luc Alphand, who returned to Clermont-Ferrand hospital to have a scan, is doing better. The former skier's convalescence is going well, even if he is only gradually regaining his faculties. Despite everything, Luc Alphand can now resume walking and no longer needs help with everyday activities. “ The neck brace that holds my head and spine still allows me to walk at a slow pace, about an hour a day., specifies Alphand this Friday. It makes me feel really good. When it comes to everyday life, I am independent. »

Accepted at the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital after his motorcycle fall during the Rand-Auvergne, Luc Alphand returned to have a scan. “ The results of the scan are positive, everything is in the process of consolidation. I still have sleep and voice problems, I'm very tired but everything seems to be going in the right direction. I was dreading this exam, however, even if the results are encouraging, I must keep in mind that nothing is decided and that I have at least a month and a half of total inactivity left, that's a minimum for healing in this sensitive area of the body. »

Despite the positive news following his scan, Luc Alphand recognizes that he still has pain and after-effects linked to his accident. “ The pain is bearable, I still have tingling and sometimes very severe headaches but I have managed to stop the morphine. I still haven't regained all my sensitivity in my fingers but I am hopeful and, in the meantime, I am learning to live this way. »

At this stage of his convalescence, the resident of Saint-Chaffrey has no idea of the continuation he can give to his career as a pilot. “ I will see when the time comes what my body and especially Professor Chazal will allow me. I will still have to wait several months before being determined but it is true that my dream would be to be able to ski a little this winter, even at 50% of my possibilities, and to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June. For the moment, these are dreams, I already want to take the time to restore my health, it?s essential. »
