Lucas di Grassi finally rewarded

His first victory in WEC, Lucas di Grassi will have waited for it. After four years spent in the Audi fold, the current leader of the championship Formula e and winner of the Paris ePrix finally climbed to the top of the podium during the 6 Hours of Spa last weekend.

A success achieved thanks to the reliability of the R18 e-tron quattro, which, unlike their rivals from Porsche et Toyota, did not experience any major technical problems, although they were not the most efficient on the track.

“I have never been discouraged, confessed di Grassi after the finish. I always pushed as hard as I could when I was behind the wheel. Ultimately this success goes beyond the personal aspect, it also rewards my mechanics and it comes at the right time to encourage them further. »

Aligned since last year with Loïc duval and Oliver Jarvis, di Grassi played the card of caution on the Ardennes route in particular against the Toyota TS050 Hybrid which had made a better choice of tires and displayed a higher level of performance. “The fact remains that we were not competitive, we stayed away from mistakes and ran a wise race. There is still work to be done to correct this. »
