While he told us after his victory in 24 Hours of Le Mans that he had no more races planned on his program until the end of the season, Frédéric Makowiecki was called in at the last minute to replace his teammate Richard Lietz, feverish, at the 6 Hours of Monza.

“I'm sad for Richie, because they are leading the championship and the goal is to get this title, the Frenchman explained to us in the Italian paddock. For my part, I will try to do the best job possible to allow No. 91 to maintain its leading position and perhaps even increase its capital. » Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz thus occupy first place in the world championship in the LMGTE Pro category. With 84 points on the clock, they are only three points ahead of their teammates from the sister car, Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen.

Warned Thursday in the middle of the day, Makowiecki did not take long to regain his bearings. »

The French driver believes that victory will depend on tire degradation, especially with the strong Lombard heat. “I feel pretty good here, the team has worked well and the car is well balanced. It's going to be a big challenge to get the tires to hold up to the temperature. This will be the main factor, especially when it comes to double relays. Will we be able to do them in good conditions? » With a Le Mans classic title holder in the car to replace another, the No. 91 Porsche remains in good hands.
