Matt Griffin better prepared for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

While the Test Day of 24 Hours of Le Mans will be contested tomorrow, the crews are assessing the forces present and their potential as the 90th anniversary of the double clock tower in Sarthe approaches. After making his first start last year with AF Corse, Matt Griffin returns to the wheel of the Ferrari 458 Italia n°61 entered in GTE Am. After a first experience which ended in a retirement, the 30-year-old Irishman is confident after having developed his program with the Italian team. Present in WEC, the teammate of Jack Gerber and Marco Cioci is also registered in ELMS, in International GT Open as well as in British GT.

“I clearly underestimated Le Mans last year”, recognizes Matt Griffin on the official WEC website. “But I feel a hundred times better prepared for everything that happens off the track and you can feel that behind the wheel. I have a different mindset this year and I'm convinced it will improve my performance. The difference with the GTE Pro Category is that we don't necessarily attack hard every lap. The results mainly depend on the performance of the gentlemen drivers. I'm having my best season and I love driving the F458 Italia. This gives me more confidence in making essential decisions, such as when to change tires if conditions change. Knowledge of how the car behaves also brings a huge advantage. With the length of the circuit, this offers that little extra which allows you to achieve victory. »
