Michelin Le Mans Cup C2: Victory for Norma with Benham-Tappy

Duncan Tappy and Michael Benham (Norma M30) won Race 2 of the Road to Le Mans, contested as part of the Michelin Le Mans Cup. The British duo from the Lanan Racing team avoided countless collisions to remain permanently in the leading group.

However, it was only eight minutes from time that Duncan Tappy, previously pilot McLaren GT in GT3, took the lead of the event to the detriment of the American Sean Rayhall (United Autosports Ligier JS P3) with an overtake from the outside at Mulsanne. The latter then kept a large lead over the Frenchman Nicholas Schatz (Norma M30), returned from 19th place in the company of Jacques Wolff !

Perhaps it was the exposure in front of thousands of spectators, but the start of Race 2 was particularly eventful. The Ligier JS P3 of Marc-Antoine Dannielou (Graff) hit his teammate and pole sitter Éric Trouillet as well as the winner of the Friday event Mikkel Jensen (Ligier JS P3 from Eurointernational) at the Dunlop chicane.

A few kilometers further, the Ferrari 488 of Sergio Pianezzola (Kessel Racing), leader of the GT3 general, lost the brakes and hit Friday's winner Mario Cioci (AF Corse). Both men gave up.

In the GT3 category, Christoph Ulrich and Maurizio Mediani (Spirit of Race) dominated the event with a one-minute lead over the rest of the group.
