Pole position holders on the Sarthe circuit, the crew Kay Van Berlo-Mikkel Jensen (Ligier JS P3 – Nissan) of the Eurointernational team transformed the test into a victory during Race 1 of the Road to Le Mans Thursday afternoon.
The event, contested as part of the Michelin Le Mans Cup, was dominated by the black LM P3 prototype. Behind the wheel during the first stint, Mikkel Jensen, who is none other than the reserve driver for BMW in GTE Pro in the World ChampionshipEndurance (WEC), built a lead of around fifteen seconds before the pit stop.

His partner Kay Van Berlo then finished the job by crossing the line with a lead of 19 seconds over the Ligier JS P3 of J.Falb-S.Rayhall (United Autosports), which only started in sixth place on the grid.
The Norma M30 of L.Hoogenboom-J.Petersen (DKR Engineering) made an even more spectacular comeback, going from 16th to 3rd position!
In the GT3 category, the Ferrari 488 Italia of the leaders S.Pianezzola-G.Piccini (Kessel Racing) was heavily penalized 15 minutes from the finish for non-compliance with slow zones (stop & go). It was another Italian, the Ferrari of P.Perazzini-M.Cioci (AF Corse) who took the opportunity to win the round ahead of the penalized Ferrari.
The race was finally marked by numerous uncontrolled figures in the LM P3 category, causing several yellow flags and “slow zones”:
