Michelin brought 1800 tires for its 18 partners to the 6 Hours of Nürburgring this weekend, the tire supplier counting on the presence of the Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports team as a new customer.

While six sets of rubber are authorized per car for the race, the Clermont-based manufacturer has selected the soft “hot weather Plus” and “hot weather” tires for the LMP1s, the “medium Plus” and “medium” rubbers and the “medium” tires. medium” and “cold weather mediums” for GTEs. Wet track tires have obviously not been forgotten.

“Track temperatures can quickly drop from 40°C to below 20°C, explains Jérôme Mondain, the Michelin program manager Endurance. These are therefore very variable conditions, likely to require teams to use the entire range of Michelin tires, as well as offering them the possibility of building different tire strategies. »
