Toyota won this Saturday, October 30 in Sakhir (Bahrain) the first Manufacturers' title in the history of the Hypercar category thanks to the victory of car no. 7 driven by Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria López. A success acquired after better tire management on the overheated track of the Bahrain International Circuit and by making one fewer pit stop than the number 8 (Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima, Brendon Hartley). With this result, the leaders of the Drivers' championship increase their lead to 15 points over the second places of the day. For Mike Conway, now is not the time to relax before the final in a week. “There were a lot of unknowns today. We tried to take care of the tires at the start and that gave us the advantage in the second stint. The whole team and my teammates did a fantastic job. It’s great to secure the Manufacturers’ title and increase our lead in the Drivers’ championship. We will continue to work hard to win it next weekend”, declared the British driver after the race. The final round of the 2021 season WEC will take place on Saturday November 6, still in Sakhir, during the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
