Unlike the vast majority of track riders, the pilot Peugeot was frankly not enthusiastic when it came to playing his first 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I was at La Filière when Henri Pescarolo invited me to take part in the 24 Hours with him in the Courage C36. My friend Steeve Chevalier, who is a fan of this race, told me: “You'll see, doing Le Mans is great. » I replied: "Yeah great, a race for old people..." It really wasn't a legend for me! But when I found myself at the start, it was something else entirely. »
Franck Montagny does not want to get caught up in the challenge of the Le Mans race: “You shouldn't put yourself in a position where you find yourself paralyzed when the event happens because you've been thinking about it constantly for a year. » A solution to escape the pressure: put yourself in your bubble. “We are trying to create a small work cell with the three drivers, the engineers and the mechanics to stay 100% focused on what we are doing. »
Twice 2nd and once 3rd at Le Mans, Franck Montagny avoids thinking too much about victory: “I'm trying to get rid of this idea. Because [thinking about it constantly] can quickly become a nightmare when it should remain a dream. »
