Nicky Catsburg at Corvette at the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

The wind of renewal is blowing at Corvette Racing. The year 2020 will obviously see the introduction of the all-new C8.R, but also the departure of one of the pillars of the American team, Jan Magnussen.

The 46-year-old Dane, after spending 16 seasons with the US brand in GT, left a vacant place, which will be replaced by Jordan Taylor. Other changes to wait, due to a clash of dates with the DTM, Mike Rockenfeller will not be able to play the role of reinforcement for 24 Hours of Le Mans on the No. 63 alongside the American and the Spaniard Antonio Garcia.

According to information from AUTOhebdo, Nicky Catsburg will take over the wheel previously assigned to the German, not only in La Sarthe, but also at the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida, January 22-26), 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida, 18- March 21) and Petit Le Mans (Georgia, October 7-10).

Asked in Sepang (Malaysia) during the WTCR final about this possible turning point in his career, the Dutchman tried to kick in. “I can neither confirm nor deny this rumor. I'd love for it to be a probability but you'll be sure very soon. »

One thing is certain, however. Nicky Catsburg will not be twiddling his thumbs at the start of next year. “I won't have time to stay at home. I will be leaving on January 1, 2020 on a circuit. » However, the Roar before the 24, the only training session organized at the Daytona International Speedway before the 24 Hours, will be held from January 3 to 5.

Nicky Catsburg is definitely not a beginner in Endurance, with an official contract during the brief BMW M8 adventure in GTE Pro (11th in its class at Le Mans in 2018, 13th in 2019). His highest achievement in this event format remains the success acquired at the 24 2013 Hours of Spa with a Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3.
