Nissan confirms Darren Cox's departure

As we announced to you in issue 2030 of AUTOhebdo, Darren Cox has left the Japanese brand after working for 18 years within the alliance Renault-Nissan. The Briton, who was director of Nissan Motorsport Global and marketing director of Nismo, was fired by the Japanese manufacturer after having been at the origin of the GT-R LM Nismo LMP1 which was to compete in the 2015 season of the WEC.

“The decision to leave Nissan and the Alliance was not an easy one to make”, commented Darren Cox in the Asian brand's press release. “I loved these years where we were able to work on incredible projects with successes and failures. I saw the GT Academy go from a small European initiative to a renowned project in many countries..."

Darren Cox will be replaced by Michael Carcamo, a Mexican who notably worked at Ilmor in IndyCar.
