Nürburgring-H+3: Porsche 919s lead at mid-race

Neel Jani sur la Porsche 919 Hybrid n°2 took advantage of the Full Course Yellow to return to the front and leads the race ahead of Timo Bernhard in the #1. The two Audi R18s of Lucas di Grassi and Marcel Fässler follow more than 25 seconds behind the leading duo.

However, the situation changed in LM P2 since the No. 05 Oreca 26 of G-Drive Racing, which had dominated the first two hours of the race, was pushed into its box. The mechanics were working on the rear part of the Var prototype, apparently for a gearbox problem.

THEAlpine A460 n°36 by Gustavo Menezes took the opportunity to take control of the race, before ceding the lead of the category to the Gibson 015S of Strakka Racing, which has just stopped and returned its position to the LM P2 of Signatech-Alpine. The No. 05 Oreca 44 from the Manor team follows in third and precedes the first Ligier JS P2 of Bruno Senna's RGR by Morand.

Ford regained leadership in GTE Pro with the GT n°66 of Pla – Mücke. The fight is intense since the first three cars are held in less than three seconds with theAston Martin Vantage n°95 by Thiim – Sorensen in front of the Ferrari 488 AF Corse n°51 by Bruni – Calado. The second Ferrari n°71 of Bird – Rigon is in fourth place.

Mathias Lauda took the No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage to the top of the GTE Am category ahead of the No. 911 KCMG Porsche 78 RSR of Christian Ried, while Yutaka Yamagishi fell back to third position with the No. 7 Corvette C50.R from Larbre Compétition.
